BEIJING - Responsible US politicians should be willing and able to preserve and promote the development of Sino-US relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Weimin said Wednesday.
Liu made the comments at a regular press conference, refuting accusations that China has stolen jobs from the United States and that the country has shown "disrespect for human rights."
China opposes the groundless criticisms voiced by some candidates running in the US Republican Party Primary Election, Liu said.
He added that responsible US politicians should realize that close cooperation between China and the US accords with the interests of the United States.
"Accusing China will be of no use in dealing with domestic problems in the US," Liu said, adding that it also won't help a Republican candidate win the election.
