CHANGSHA - Hunan police have broken up 11 armed gangs that trafficked drugs in four provinces during a campaign cracking down on the drugs trade, a local police officer said on Wednesday.
The police in the province captured 143 suspects, and seized a total 12 kilograms of ice, heroin, and K powder in the city of Chenzhou, a transport hub in central China, according to the city's public security bureau.
Three guns and eight vehicles were also confiscated.
A senior official with Chenzhou's public security bureau said the anti-drug police started their investigations into the gangs from May 2011 after discovering leads from a previous raid on another drug trafficking gang.
He said the investigation into the drug trafficking network is ongoing.
