LANZHOU - Floods triggered by heavy rains left two people missing and damaged homes in Northwest China's Gansu province Sunday, local authorities said.

From 10 pm Sunday to 1:30 am Monday, floods battered several counties and districts in the provincial capital of Lanzhou, leaving two people missing in Gucheng village and destroying a single home in Shengou village, according to the provincial government's general office.

In Yatou village, Bali township, four villagers became trapped in a tree, while hundreds of hectares of crops were damaged in Lanzhou's Chengguan district, the office said.

Heavy downpours also hit the Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Gannan on Sunday. Fifteen people were evacuated to safety after floodwaters gathered in low-lying areas, the office said.

Rescuers are still searching for the missing, the office said.
