A new recycling rule scheduled to take effect on Saturday in Shanghai will boost the reuse of renewable resources.
The rule specifies the categories of renewable resources for recycling, recycling standards and guidance.
It also clearly outlines the details for recycling renewable resources containing toxins, such as energy-saving light bulbs and batteries.
In addition, a citywide waste collection network will be established. Some collection stations will be set up in local communities, schools, supermarkets, stores and government offices, according to the municipal government.
Officials said it will also introduce an incentive scheme to encourage local residents to recycle renewable resources. Residents will receive incentives for recycling renewable resources at collection stations.
