A 51-year-old woman called Huang was prosecuted for trafficking her newly born grandson for 35,000 yuan, because of poverty. The child was born outside wedlock by her youngest daughter Hong (alias). His father was Hong's boyfriend who disappeared shortly before the child's birth.

In Feb, 2012, Huang was unexpectedly asked by Hong (alias) in a phone call from Zhejiang province to accept the baby and raise it at their hometown in Guizhou province.

"There was no way but to sell the child," Huang said, since she had no income, and couldn't make contact with her daughter. She had to pay all the debts for raising the child. Huang sold the grandson with the help of her relatives and a human trafficker in Anxi county, Fujian province.

All the suspects have been caught except for the human trafficker, and the child is being temporarily looked after in a welfare home, police said, adding that they are still trying to find Hong. The investigation is still underway.
