A report from the Ministry of Public Security said authorities are working on a document that could deter people from driving after using drugs.

The ministry said in a report to the National People's Congress Standing Committee in November that it is working with other authorities to set up legal documents that include conviction and punishment standards for driving while under the influence of drugs.

The report was released to the public by the NPC Standing Committee on Tuesday.

Driving while under the influence of drugs is illegal in China, but offenders are currently punished under the crime of dangerous driving.
