President Hu Jintao had a meeting with US President Barack Obama on the afternoon on March 26 in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu said the two presidents had an extensive and in-depth exchange of views on China-US relations and other issues of common interest and they reached a lot of consensus.
On Sudan and South Sudan, President Hu pointed out that to maintain peace and stability between Sudan and South Sudan serves the common interest of China and the United States.
China and the United States should continue to exert their own influence, support mediation efforts of the international community, the African Union in particular, and encourage Sudan and South Sudan to resolve their outstanding issues through negotiation on the basis of mutual understanding and mutual accommodation.
