The Northern Expedition, a military campaign with the main objective to end the rule of the Northern warlords, kicked off in July 1926. During the Northern Expedition, members of the Communist Party of China and the Communist Youth League of China did highly effective ideological and political work. Some people engaged in political work pose for a group photo in Nanchang: Li Fuchun (front row, 1st R), Zhu Kejing (front, 2nd R), Guo Moruo (front row, 3rd R), Lin Boqu (back row, 3rd L), Li Yimang (back row, 2nd L).
