Anhui legislature opens with new style

No welcoming banners, no red carpets, no liquor and no art performances.

The annual session of Anhui province's legislature opened on Jan 22 with a new style.

Echoing the central leadership's call, the province also banned lavish banquets during the weeklong meeting that will see the election of the province's governor and vice-governors.

The annual meeting of the province's 750 political advisers opened on Jan 20.
