Corrupt official caught in Vietnam
An alleged corrupt official from Hebei province, who fled to Vietnam in January, was caught by local police on Tuesday.
Song Jianzhong, former head of the land resources bureau of Mancheng county, was caught by the police in Mong Cai city on Tuesday with his mistress surnamed Ren, the China News Service reported.
Song and Ren were taken to the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Tuesday evening and to Hebei on Wednesday, the report said.
Anti-corruption authorities in Hebei found that Song allegedly took a bribe of 1.5 million yuan ($240,000) when he was the head of the land resources bureau from 2008 to 2011. He fled in January with his mistress when the anti-graft agency was investigating him, police said.
