New glories for China in striving for renewal
BEIJING - China's upcoming "two sessions" will hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics and adhere to the Scientific Outlook on Development to score new glories in realizing the "Chinese dream."
The sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's parliament, and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the top political advisory body, will open on March 5 and 3, respectively.
The sessions are of particularly great importance, as this is the first year in which the proposals and measures raised at the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will be implemented.
The Party congress, which was held in November last year, elected the CPC's new leadership, including Xi Jinping as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and vowed to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, a goal later explained as the "Chinese dream."
This year is also crucial for implementing the 12th Five-year Plan (2011-2015) and laying a solid foundation for the construction of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
This year's sessions will form new government organizations and elect new CPPCC leaders, providing institutional and personnel guarantees for the country's development.
As an important platform for carrying out China's democratic politics, the sessions are expected to turn the ruling Party's propositions into national policies through a legal process, as well as better rally the strength of the people to realize the "Chinese dream."
During the sessions, legislators and political advisors from all walks of life will gather together to discuss state affairs, contribute their wisdom and provide public voices in a way that influences national policy making.
The sessions embody the advantages of socialist politics and the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. They are also an important channel for realizing the "Chinese dream."
The realization of the "Chinese dream" depends upon unswerving reform. The sessions will further push forward reform to make breakthroughs in key fields, freeing people from backward ideologies and eradicating institutional shortcomings.
As General Secretary Xi once said in a speech, empty talk can only lead a country astray, but hard work brings prosperity to a nation.
The "Chinese dream" will inspire people across the country to come together to work toward building a moderately prosperous society and mark glorious victories amid the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
