Injured cop gives 100,000 to Police Foundation
A police officer has donated 100,000 yuan ($16,000) to the Beijing Police Foundation.
Wang Qihe, a policeman at the Huairou branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, donated 100,000 yuan, which was donated to him by renowned philanthropist Li Chunping after he was injured in the line of duty.
Wang was injured during a robbery homicide case at a bank in Shunyi district of Beijing on Jan 25, 2011. He was shot by a suspect, and during three hours of treatment, doctors took out almost 100 pieces of glass and 56 pieces of metal from his wound. Although he received four operations, his left arm has not regained its full function.
Still, Wang is full of enthusiasm about public welfare, and for six years, he has donated 10,000 yuan ($1,600) to a poor student and her family to help her and her brother complete their studies.
For 10 years, Wang Qihe has donated more than 30,000 yuan ($4,800) for education and disaster relief.
