Man charged with making false reports
A man who posted online reports about a community official suspected of corruption has been charged with making false reports of registered capital and contract fraud by prosecutors in Shenzhen's Longgong district, Guangzhou Daily reported on Tuesday.
Zhou Zujie, from Shenzhen, was charged by the local prosecuting authority on Monday.
Zhou, born in 1971, published posts on the Internet saying Zhou Weisi, an official in Longgong district's street office, owned property worth 2 billion yuan ($321.5 million), the paper said, adding that the posts attracted widespread public attention.
On Feb 8, Zhou Weisi, was arrested on suspicion of taking bribes. His case also involves high-level officials in the district's other departments.
Prosecutors denied the charge brought against Zhou Zujie is related to his earlier posts, while police confirmed his accusation is related to his own business, a gardening company, the paper added.
