Fujian cultural festival to be held in June
The 2013 Southern Fujian Cultural Festival will be held in Quanzhou, South China's Fujian province on June 16.
Huang Shaoping, party chief of Quanzhou, who is in Beijing attending the ongoing session of the 12th National People's Congress, said the city is all geared up to offer a new and interesting insight into southern Fujian culture.
According to Huang, this year's event will feature martial art stunts performed by monks from Southern Shaolin Temple, a porcelain exhibition and a gala of Nanyin music, a traditional opera sung in the Minnan (southern Fujian) dialect that has existed for more than 1,000 years.
The festival will also include a symposium on various aspects of southern Fujian culture ranging from literature to food.
