Liu Yunshan urges wealth creation for farmers
BEIJING - Senior leader Liu Yunshan has visited farmers to see how they live and help them become wealthy.
From April 20 to 22, Liu visited farmers' fields and homes in villages in East China's Jiangsu province to observe how they work and live, and listen to their suggestions on the work of grassroots organs of the Communist Party of China.
Liu is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
He went to rural villages to carry out field research during intervals of the 4th China-Europe High-Level Political Parties Forum that concluded Tuesday in Suzhou, Jiangsu province.
"The well-being of villagers depends on the work of the grassroots CPC organs," said Liu.
He praised the roles Party members in grassroots communities have played in helping rural citizens find jobs and build a well-off socialist countryside.
He also urged them to continue to improve grassroots Party-building and regard it as a major task to create a happier, wealthier life for rural people.
Liu also visited some local companies, urging them to develop by innovating both technologies and ways of internal Party-building.
