Lei Zhengfu, a former Party official in Chongqing who was involved in a sex-tape scandal, will face prosecution, Xinhua News Agency reported on May 7.

He has been stripped of his Party membership and was previously removed from his post as Party chief of Chongqing's Beibei district.

Lei is among 15 government officials and six senior managers at State-owned enterprises who face punishment after they were secretly recorded having sex with young women and were subsequently blackmailed.

Several other midranking officials in Chongqing were also transferred to judicial organs or are under investigation for corruption, the city's information office said.

A sex video of Lei was posted online in November by a blogger. The Party chief was sacked less than three days later.

Police investigations revealed the scandal was plotted by a criminal ring that hired women to seduce officials and then secretly filmed videos to use for extortion.

In January, 10 officials of the government and SOEs in Chongqing were sacked for involvement in sex videos.
