Father of sewage pipe baby ‘not found’

Police said that they have not yet found the father of the baby who was abandoned in a sewage pipe in Zhejiang on May 25.

A police officer at the Pujiang county police station denied on Thursday a rumor that the boy’s father had been found.

The rumor started after the infant’s grandparents took the baby to look after it.

The officer added that the boy’s mother, a 22-year-old woman, is in hospital for further treatment.

The boy’s grandparents said they would not go and look for the father. The police did not confirm reports that they are looking for the father.

The mother’s parents asked for privacy for their daughter and said they were quite willing to bring up the boy on their own.
