Heavy rain continues in S China
BEIJING - Heavy rain is expected to continue in China's southern regions on Sunday, with the country's meteorological authorities issuing a blue alert, the lowest level in the warning system.
The National Meteorological Center said that some parts of Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan will see heavy rain or rainstorms from Sunday to Tuesday, with some of these areas expected to experience a precipitation of around 50 to 80 mm.
Strong rain will also hit north and northeast China as well as east Inner Mongolia from Sunday to Tuesday, the NMC forecast.
The NMC warned the southern regions to take precautions against disasters that the strong rainfalls may bring about, including urban waterlogging, torrential flood and landslide.
The Center also reminded the students and their family members to be mindful of the adverse effect of the heavy rain as the national college entrance examination will take place next week.
China has a four-color coded warning system, with the red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
