Journey of giving will ignite 'Chinese Dream'
A three-month tour will soon ignite the "Chinese Dream" for children in poverty.
"Charitable Travel in Beautiful China" was launched on Friday. Representatives from about 30 donating companies helping charitable projects run by the China Children and Teenagers' Fund will embark on a journey through ten provinces until September.
"The trip aims to deepen understanding of children's needs in a new era," said Chen Xiaoxia, secretary-general of the fund.
It will also highlight the beneficial aspects of charitable projects and enhance communication between donors and people in remote arrears, Chen said.
Representatives from the companies and other organizations will be divided into groups to travel five different routes; North China, East China, Central China, Southwest China and Northwest China. Different regions will have a different focus.
Eyecare will be a highlight in Hebei province, while treating anemia will be a priority in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The fund has already received donations amounting to 50 million yuan ($8.2 million). "Charity means more than giving money," said Zhao Donghua,vice-chairwoman of fund at the opening ceremony.
