Chinese police hand over drug dealer to Vietnam
NANNING - Chinese police handed over a suspected drug trafficker to Vietnam on Wednesday as part of an anti-drug cooperation between the two countries, local authorities said Thursday.
Tangs Yung (transliteration), a major suspect wanted by Vietnamese police in a drug trafficking case in 2007, was handed over at the Youyiguan border gate in Pingxiang city in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
Yung was caught by Guangxi police on May 27.
Chinese police in Guangxi and Yunnan province, which border Vietnam, have established border liaison offices with several neighboring Vietnamese provinces since 2000, strengthening their cooperation on cross-border anti-drug law enforcement.
China has now handed five suspected drug traffickers to Vietnam since 2011 through the border liaison cooperation mechanism.
