• October 2006

Tang Hui's daughter, 11, kidnapped, raped and forced into prostitution in Yongzhou city, Hunan province.

• December 2006

Daughter rescued.

• June 2012

After years of petitioning and appeal, Tang receives final verdict from Hunan High People's Court on daughter's rape case. Two culprits sentenced to death, four given life imprisonment and one a 15-year term. Tang continues petitioning, believing some of those responsible for the incident have not been punished.

• August 2012

Tang sentenced to 18 months in labor camp by Yongzhou laojiao commission for "disrupting social order". Released nine days later.

• November 2012

Tang applies for State compensation for "erroneous" laojiao decision. Declined by Yongzhou laojiao authority.

• January 2013

Tang takes case to intermediate court in Yongzhou, seeking compensation from local laojiao authority. National political and legal work conference, convened in Beijing, pledges to push forward reform of laojiao system this year.

• February 2013

Several provinces, including Yunnan and Guangdong, say they will suspend approval of laojiao decisions.

• March 2013

Premier Li Keqiang says research continuing for reform of laojiao system.

• April 2013

Court in Yongzhou turns down Tang's request for compensation. She appeals to Hunan Provincial High People's Court.

• July 2013

High court rules Yongzhou laojiao commission should pay Tang 2,641 yuan ($430) in compensation.
