Vietnam's party leader meets with Chinese FM
HANOI - Vietnamese General Secretary of the Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi here on Monday.
Nguyen said Vietnam and China are both socialist countries and also friendly neighbors, and the two have brotherly and comradely traditional friendship.
Fostering the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China is a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy, he added.
He asked both sides to fully implement the agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries and parties, strengthen practical and effective cooperation in all areas under the bilateral cooperation steering committee, as well as resolve sea- related problems in accordance with the basic principle of their agreements.
Wang said China and Vietnam share mutual strategic goals and interests, and are both shouldering great responsibilities of taking the socialist road and leading people to realize their development.
Facing new changes in the international situation, the two countries should strengthen strategic communication, enhance political mutual trust, deepen cooperation and cement people's friendship, Wang said, adding that both sides should foster land cooperation and explore solutions to sea-related differences.
