Chinese Defense Minister visits US

US, China to expand military exchanges 

The United States and China agreed on Monday to expand military exchanges and exercises as part of efforts to build more stable ties.

Chinese Defense Minister visits US

Chinese Minister of Defense Chang Wanquan will meet with US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel at the Pentagon on Monday in a bid to strengthen bilateral military ties, a pledge made by top leaders of the two nations in early June. 

Pentagon spokesman Steve Warren told reporters on Friday that the two defense chiefs will have an opportunity to discuss a wide variety of issues, including the US-China relationship and their military-to-military relationship.>>>

Chang's visit good for ties

The visit to the United States by Chinese Minister of National Defense Chang Wanquan will help sustain the "positive momentum" that has been achieved in the US-China military-to-military ties, the Pentagon said Friday. >>>

The China-US military relationship is not short of problems or crises. But at present the momentum is definitely in the right direction. But there are still a lot of issues to be overcome to build greater mutual trust. >>>

Onus on US to improve ties
