Airport bomb suspect faces up to 10 years in jail
A local procuratorate of Beijing initiated a public prosecution on Thursday against Ji Zhongxing, who is suspected of detonating a homemade explosive at Beijing Capital International Airport in July.
The 34-year-old man, who is from Shandong province and uses a wheelchair, ignited the explosive on July 20 that completely severed his left hand and slightly injured a police officer.
The man reportedly had been petitioning the government for more than 10 years to file a report that police abuse caused his partial paralysis.
The Chaoyang District People's Procuratorate, in a statement on its official micro blog, said those who endanger public security with an explosive but haven't caused serious consequences can be sentenced from three to 10 years in prison.
