PLA garrison ordinance revised to enforce discipline
BEIJING - A revised Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison Ordinance has been promulgated to further enforce strict discipline among the armed forces.
Issued with an order from Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) Xi Jinping, the ordnance is set to take effect on October 1 this year, the CMC announced on Thursday.
The new document, which is focused on improvements to PLA work styles and enforcement of discipline, is meant to cater to new circumstances regarding the activities of servicemen and military vehicles outside barracks, the CMC said, without elaborating.
The ordinance further clarifies the functions and major tasks of the PLA garrison as well as procedures and methods that the garrison will follow in guarding the area in which they are based, the CMC said.
It described the new ordinance's promulgation as a key move for ensuring that the PLA is run in accordance with the law and that discipline is strictly enforced by troops.
