Chinese billionaire Wang Gongquan was taken away by police from his Beijing apartment at 11:30 am Friday, ifeng.com reported.
Wang is suspected of disturbing public order, according to a micro blog post by "Xiaoshu", who said he was authorized to publish the information by Wang's family, the report said.
The 52-year-old is the co-founder of CDH Investments and attracted major attention on China's micro blog sites after announcing his plan to elope with his mistress Wang Qin in May 2011. Wang Qin is the founder of Jiangsu Zhongfu Science and Technology Industrial Group Co.
Neither Wang's family nor "Xiaoshu" revealed specific details about what led to Wang being taken.
Ren Zhiqiang, a property tycoon and CEO of Huayuan Real Estate, said on his micro blog site: "Where are you, Gongquan?" at 12:43 pm.
Wang was at his daughter's wedding five days ago, on Sept 8, Chinese media reported.
