Man sentenced to death for killing child

A man who killed a toddler by violently throwing her to the ground was sentenced to death on Wednesday at Beijing No 1 Intermediate Court.

Han Lei, 39, threw the 2-year-old girl to the ground after he argued with her mother over parking a car in Beijing’s Daxing district on July 23.

The girl died of serious head injuries two days later.

Li Ming, a friend who helped Han flee, was sentenced to five years in jail.
