China condemns college killings in Nigeria
BEIJING - Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei on Monday condemned the deadly terrorist attack carried out by the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram, which killed at least 47 students in northeastern Nigeria.
The College of Agriculture in Gujba, 50 km south of the state capital Damaturu, came under attack on Sunday when gunmen shot students, local sources reported.
Hong conveyed condolences and extended sympathies to the families of the dead and those who were injured.
China firmly opposes any forms of terrorism and is willing to enhance anti-terrorism exchanges and cooperation with other countries, in a bid to safeguard world peace and stability, he said.
Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday condemned the attacks in a televised address in Abuja, the nation's capital city.
