China, Trinidad and Tobago hail 30 yrs of friendly ties

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Patrick Manning on Sunday exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 30 year anniversary of the two countries' establishment of full diplomatic ties.
In his message, Wen extended cordial greetings and congratulations to the government and people of Trinidad and Tobago on behalf of the Chinese government and people.
During the past 30 years, the two countries have maintained continuous contacts and exchanges, had fruitful cooperation in such fields as politics, economy and trade as well as culture. The two countries have been supportive to each other in the handling of international affairs. China is satisfied with the sound development of the bilateral ties, the Chinese premier said.
Trinidad and Tobago is an important country in the Caribbean which has exerted great influence in maintaining peace and stability as well as promoting the economic development and integration of the region, he added.
The Chinese government attaches great importance to developing friendly ties with Trinidad and Tobago and is willing to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields on the basis of equality, mutual respect and common interest, said Wen.
In his message to Wen, Patrick Manning, the prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago, extended cordial greetings and congratulations to the Chinese government and people on behalf of his people and government on the occasion.
The two countries have achieved a significant milestone in their bilateral relations, said Manning, adding that he sincerely hopes the friendly ties that exist between Trinidad and Tobago and China will continue to grow in the years ahead.
