A young man in Shanghai who helped an old man who fell from his bicycle was acquitted of knocking the man down in a Shanghai court on Tueday, Oriental Morning Post reported.
The old man, named Huang Ming, fell from his bicycle while Pang Bin, who was riding an electric bicycle, passed him on Minhang district’s South Hongmei Road on April 23, 2012.
Pang called an ambulance and police for Huang but the latter told police Pang caused the accident, and later sued him.
Although no surveillance tape was available, a report from a judicial evaluation center showed no trace the two bicycles collided.
Shanghai No 1 Intermediate People’s Court declared Pang was not responsible for injuring Huang and denied Huang’s claim for 160,000 yuan ($26,000) in compensation.
