China will boost development in its intelligent transportation system industry by publishing and implementing a host of new guidelines, according to an ITS forum held in Beijing on Jan 10.
The guidelines, which outline the construction of a smart city, were drafted and introduced by eight government departments, including the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Ministry of Transport, at the 2013 China ITS Forum.
The departments pledged at the forum to accelerate research in ITS technology and promote it across the country.
They added the guidelines were submitted to the State Council for approval in July and are slated to be published before June 2014, noting the ITS business will embrace a huge market in China once the guidelines take effect.
