China will build another 20 national-level learning sites this year to offer lessons in product quality to primary and middle school students, an official with the country's quality watchdog said on Jan 14.
Ma Siyu, deputy head of the quality department at the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said that the country will also build 60 learning sites at the provincial level and 100 at the city level.
The quality watchdog together with the Ministry of Education have already established 87 such sites at the national level, 300 at the provincial level and 453 at the city level, Ma said during a ceremony to certify another 35 learning sites for quality education.
Most of the learning sites were enterprises as well as research and quality supervision institutes that offer regular open house activities to students.
"We will encourage more trips for students to production plants and factories to increase their awareness of product quality," she said.
Ma said the open house activities have so far given field trips to more than 600,000 students nationwide.
