Police have detained three suspects in a series of arsons in Datong, Shanxi province, which caused losses of more than 12 million yuan ($1.98 million), Shanxi Evening News reported.
Several vehicles have been set alight in Datong since August 2013, including six buses at a coach station and 10 Audi cars at an automobile service shop. Losses from the buses totaled 1.5 million yuan and damage to the cars cost 5.7 million yuan, according to the local police.
Police detained three suspects after an arson in December. According to the police, the three admitted to the previous arsons, as well as robberies and thefts.
One of the suspects also said he committed the arsons because of his hatred of society after a previous release from prison, according to the Datong police.
