A woman in Wuhan, Hubei province, paid 800 yuan ($130) into coin boxes on two buses to compensate the bus company on Wednesday, saying she used to be a frequent fare evader, Wuhan Evening News reported.
The woman insisted on putting several 100-yuan notes into the coin boxes on a No 593 and No 609 bus, as seen on video recorders installed on the buses.
She refused to take the extra money back after both drivers reminded her, and said she wanted to compensate for previously evading fares.
The ticketing department of the bus company said they will keep the extra money temporarily, and wait for the passenger to retrieve it.
