HARBIN - A power failure has halted the subway service in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, Thursday morning, affecting thousands of passengers, sources with Harbin Metro said.
As of 11:45 a.m., underground traffic was yet to resume, an official with Harbin Metro said.
The power failure was detected at 10:20 a.m. on Line 1, the only subway route in operation in Harbin, he said.
The route, which opened in September, carries 130,000 passengers daily.
It is part of a planned 340-km underground traffic network to become operational by 2028.
