Bridge closed after being hit by ship

Xietang Bridge in Shanghai's suburban Songjiang district was closed to traffic on Monday as the bridge floor appeared to incline, xinmin.cn reported.

The district maritime affairs department said the bridge was hit by an unidentified ship on Sunday night. Cracks can be seen on two bridge piers and the authority is investigating the accident.

The department said there is a risk the bridge may collapse and it will come up with an emergency repair plan as soon as possible.
