The number of vehicles in China reached 253 million by the end of February, with a monthly increase of 1.6 million this year, police authorities announced on Wednesday.
Among the vehicles, 94.67 million are motorcycles and 141 million are cars, buses, and motorized tricycles, according to data released by the Traffic Management Administration of the Ministry of Public Security.
Nine provinces, including Guangdong, Shandong, Henan and Jiangsu, have more than 10 million vehicles, the administration said.
More than 283 million Chinese had driving licenses as of late February, and 27.81 percent of them have had licenses for one to three years, according to the administration.
