CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co, a subsidiary of CSR Corp, said on Thursday it has beaten foreign rivals Mercedes-Benz and Volvo, along with Brazilian local brands Marco Polo and Neobus, to supply new-energy buses in Curitiba, a host city for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the capital of Brazil's southern state of Parana.
After more than a year of testing, the first batch of electric buses produced by CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co will be in operation in the Brazilian city, according to the company.
Success will establish a good market reputation in South America and mark an important step in China's new-energy automobile industry, which is pursuing a "going out" strategy, the company said.
CSR said it will work closely with the local government for the follow-up vehicle procurement and project investment to further deepen cooperation in the country.
