BEIJING - The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, on Thursday released its legislation plan for the year.

The budget law will be amended to make it more transparent, said Wang Ruihe, an official with the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee.

The laws on environmental protection, air pollution prevention, administrative procedure, production safety, food safety and legislation will also be amended.

In the meantime, the top legislature will create a cyber security law and publish legal interpretations for criminal law and criminal procedure law.

The NPC Standing Committee will also amend laws according to the need of implementing comprehensively deepened reforms and the institutional reform of the State Council, Wang said.

The legislation plan was passed at a chairpersons' meeting of the NPC Standing Committee in December, and was later revised.

The plan was finally approved at a chairpersons' meeting on Monday.

Chu Zhenghong, another official with the Legislative Affairs Commission, said the mechanism for NPC deputies to take part in the legislation procedure will be improved this year.
