China's National Organ Donation Management Center under the Red Cross Society of China has denied rumors that a rival registry website has been rolled out in competition.
On April 2, the Red Cross Society of China launched an online donation website, 13 days after China's first organ donor registry website savelife.org.cn was launched jointly by the National Health and Family Planning Commission and District 3450 of Rotary International,a HongKong-based charity organization.
"Due to having long been unhappy with work distribution, there are many contradictions between the National Health and Family Planning Commission and Red Cross Society of China ," China Economic Weekly cited a senor doctor as saying.
However, Gao Xinpu, a division director at National Organ Donation Management Center, denied the report and said "both of us aim to arouse public attention and support organ donation for transplantation.
"We do not mind even more organ donation registry websites launching, as long as they can contribute to the development of organ transplantation in China."
He said registry information from different websites will be unified and integrated in future.
