Journalism campaign aims to raise environmental awareness

A national journalism campaign on environmental protection was launched in Beijing on Wednesday.

The NPC's Environmental Protection and Resources Conservation Committee aims to tackle air pollution, and plans to take media representatives to the provinces of Anhui, Henan, Shanxi, Jiangsu and Hebei this year, with the aim of highlighting environment issues and raising public awareness, according to Lu Hao, chairman of the committee.

The annual campaign has been held for the past 20 years, and last year's initiative resulted in 79 articles published in newspapers and magazines, covering air pollution, water safety and renewable energy.
