1,000 women getting Mother's Day gifts

Some 1,000 poverty-stricken mothers in Chengguan of Luonan county, Shaanxi province, will each receive a parcel containing articles for daily use such as socks, hats, towels and toothbrushes.

The parcels, totaling 200,000 yuan ($32,114) in worth and donated by Perfect (China) Co Ltd, were delivered to the women in celebration of the upcoming Mother's Day.

By the end of last year, the charity event, launched by China Women's Development Foundation, had sent parcels to 6,130 poor, rural women in the province's Danfeng, Pucheng, Ningqiang, Yanchang and Yulin cities and counties.
