There is no evidence that a majority of Chinese employers use these questions to judge potential employees -- there is a possibility that some companies are just using a popular format and never take the personal information into consideration. But the point is, "the presence of these personal information questions leaves the door wide open for potential discrimination. It allows employers to discriminate people without declaring it," said Zhang Qianfan, law professor of Peking University.
