Shanghai to Pyongyang charter flights to begin in July

Tourists will be able to travel from Shanghai directly to Pyongyang with charter flights, starting from this July, according to Shanghai Morning Post.

The direct flight means that tourists in Shanghai no longer need to travel by land or use Beijing or Shengyang as a transfer stop when flying to Pyongyang.

Both Ctrip and the Shanghai branch of Yanbian China International Travel Service have launched weekly itineraries, offering four to five days. Trips will start at 4,580 yuan ($732.8).

One of the many restrictions when traveling to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is on photography. For the charter flight service, the Yangtze River Delta Tourism Photographic Society has reached an agreement with the DPRK's national tourism administration to let its members use long-lens cameras at many locations for scenic shots.
