A senior official in East China's Jiangxi province was removed from his post because of corrupt allegations, the country's top anti-graft watchdog announced on June 10.

Zhao Zhiyong, secretary-general of the Communist Party of China Jiangxi Provincial Committee, was sacked for suspected violations of discipline, according to a statement released by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

The anti-graft authorities had launched an investigation into Zhao's activities on June 3.

Two other senior officials in Jiangxi province have also been recently investigated. Yao Mugen, vice-governor of Jiangxi province, was investigated for suspected violations of law and discipline on March 22. Authorities investigated Chen Anzhong, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress, in December.
