Police in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, have busted a drug ring allegedly headed by a 27-year-old expectant mother.
According to the Modern Jinbao newspaper, police confiscated 32 kg of drugs such as ketamine and gamma hydroxybutyrate, and captured 68 criminal suspects.
The alleged ringleader, surnamed Zhang, 27, from Anhui province, was a child bride who was sent away at a young age by her parents whom she does not remember at all.
Zhang did not get along with her husband, so she fled the province for Wenzhou six years ago.
She met a drug dealer in Wenzhou and became his girlfriend. But soon after that, the man was arrested for dealing in drugs. She took over his business network and became a drug dealer herself.
Her ring managed to transport drugs from Huizhou, Guangdong province, to Wenzhou.
On the evening of March 16, police arrested her new boyfriend and found more than 100 bottles of gamma hydroxybutyrate in his home. They arrested Zhang when she arrived home, and found 10 kg of ketamine in her storage.
Since then, police have captured 66 other criminal suspects involved in the drug trade, the news report said.
