NANCHANG - A family of four were killed when a village primary school building collapsed early on Friday in east China's Jiangxi Province.
The bodies of the four -- a 57-year-old teacher, his wife and two grandsons, aged six and eight -- were all recovered at 11 a.m., said the local government.
The four were sleeping in the two-story teaching building of the school in Dangkou Village, Yihuang County when a rain-triggered mud-rock flow flattened it at around 1 a.m. on Friday.
The teacher was taking his turn to tend the school and thus slept in the building with his family members, according to school sources.
Rescuers said so far they have found no more people trapped in the debris. The teaching building was constructed in the 1980s.
Rescuers are still clearing the debris at the scene.
More than 2,700 people were evacuated after downpours battered Fuzhou City, Jiangxi on Thursday and early Friday.
