China promotes 4 officers to general

BEIJING - China's Central Military Commission (CMC) on Friday promoted four senior military officers to the rank of general, the top rank at the current time.

The four promoted officers are Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Qi Jianguo, Commander of the Shenyang Military Area Command Wang Jiaocheng, Political Commissar of the Shenyang Military Area Command Chu Yimin and Political Commissar of the Guangzhou Military Area Command Wei Liang.

At a promotion ceremony on Friday, Chinese President and CMC Chairman Xi Jinping presented the officers with certificates of command, shook hands with them and expressed his congratulations.

An order signed by Xi for the promotions was announced by Fan Changlong, CMC vice chairman. The ceremony was presided over by Xu Qiliang, CMC vice chairman.
