A woman in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, told police she stole a large amount of property from two officials in neighboring Anhui province, but her confession was ignored by a local procuratorate and a court, the Mirror Evening News reported.

Fang Yunyun, 20, said she stole prepaid shopping cards worth more than 500,000 yuan ($80,850) and some expensive gifts at an official's house in Hefei in May.

Several days later, she stole prepaid shopping cards worth about 400,000 yuan and saw the real estate license for a 300- square-meter villa and the land license for a 1,800-square-meter plot at another official's house.

Although Fang said she wrote to the provincial disciplinary committee and the local procuratorate to report potential corruption by the two officials, the local procuratorate denied receiving any report.

Fang was sentenced to 10 years in prison for other theft cases and fined 30,000 yuan.
