BEIJING -- Shanghai General Motors (GM) will recall 5,785 imported 2014 Cadillac ATS and CTS vehicles starting Aug. 31 because of a front seat bracket welding defect, China's quality watchdog said Thursday.
The recall involves vehicles manufactured between July 29 and Dec. 20, 2013, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.
In some of the vehicles, if the welding is incomplete, the front passenger seat bracket could loosen if the car crashes, said the statement.
GM will notify owners and examine the affected vehicles and eliminate potential hazards free of charge.
